Empty desktop in ArthurOS 1.2. The screenshot has an extra border (remove)(show). The ArthurOS’s desktop consists of an empty, inactive space (Pinboard, ie. the ability to save icons on the desktop, was introduced with RISC OS 2) and the icon bar at the bottom of the screen.

Desktop with applications

Desktop with applications in ArthurOS 1.2. The screenshot has an extra border (remove)(show). This shows basically all applications available in ArthurOS 1.2. The widgets on windows operate in a similar fashion to those on Amiga OS – the first one from the left moves the window behind other windows, the second one closes the window, and the optional widget in the top right corner maximizes it or restores its dimensions.

Notepad

Notepad in ArthurOS 1.2 (Note-Pad) A very simple notepad in ArthurOS gives us only three options: Load, Save and Print. Please note the scrollbars already prepared to accomodate the whole available space.

File manager in ArthurOS 1.2 The file manager in AcornOS allows basic file operations. Drag and drop is not supported. Selecting a file does not deselect the previous one.

Running applications

Running applications in ArthurOS 1.2 (Icon bar) The lefthand icons give the user access to disk drives (here just a floppy drive), while the righthand icons are shortcuts for the applications, as well as exiting the GUI. The set of righthand icons remains the same all the time.
